Steel & Basic Steel Products

Steel requirements, defined before they are quoted.

Apex reviews selected basic and semi-formed steel enquiries against product form, dimensions, specification, quantity, destination and intended application.

What Apex handles in steel, and what it does not.

Apex holds no stock and carries no mill affiliation, so an enquiry is never matched against an inventory list. It is read against its parameters and taken to the supply options that fit them. That makes how the requirement is written the single thing that decides how far it gets.

The same requirement, written twice

As it usually arrives

Not yet answerable
  • 10 mm plate
  • 50 tonnes
  • UAE

No tolerance, no grade reference, no discharge port, no commercial terms. Three suppliers would read this three different ways and quote three different things, none of them comparable.

As it can be quoted

Can be quoted
  • 10 mm plate, tolerance ±0.3 mm
  • Grade per attached specification, equivalent acceptable
  • 50 t, single shipment
  • Jebel Ali, CFR
  • Mill test certificate required

The same requirement, defined. One reply, one price against a stated basis, and a documentation set agreed before anyone commits to anything.

What Apex reviews

  • Basic steel: plate, sheet, coil and bar
  • Semi-formed: angle, channel, beam and hollow section
  • Pipe and tube
  • Billet and semi-formed stock
  • Enquiries defined by specification, quantity and destination

What falls outside it

  • Ex-stock or off-the-shelf supply, since Apex holds no inventory
  • Fabrication, machining, cutting or finishing services
  • Finished or engineered steel products
  • Site erection, installation or construction work
Requirement Framework

What we need to review a steel enquiry.

Each enquiry is assessed against the parameters below. The more of these that are defined, the further the commercial discussion can go on the first reply.

01

Product Form

Plate, sheet, bar, angle, channel, beam or hollow section. The form in scope.

02

Dimensions & Tolerance

Thickness, width, length or diameter, and the tolerance the application allows.

03

Specification

The standard or grade the material must meet, and whether an equivalent is acceptable.

04

Intended Application

What the steel is for. Application often decides which grades are viable at all.

05

Quantity & Phasing

Total tonnage, and whether it moves in one shipment or across a schedule.

06

Destination

Discharge port or delivery market, and the Incoterms rule the enquiry works to.

07

Documentation

Mill test certificate, certificate of origin, and any third-party inspection the destination imposes. Documentation decides viability more often than price does, so it is worth stating at the outset rather than discovering it at confirmation.

Material Scope

The steel enquiries Apex reviews.

Apex Elevation Enterprise works as a commercial intermediary for basic and semi-formed steel. Apex holds no stock and carries no mill affiliation, so an enquiry is never matched against an inventory list. It is read against its parameters and taken to the supply options that fit them.

That distinction matters most when a specification is unusual, a tolerance is tight, or a destination imposes documentation that surfaces late. A requirement defined properly at the start gets quoted once. A requirement defined loosely gets quoted three times and still moves.

Product forms

  • Plate and sheet
  • Coil
  • Round, square and flat bar
  • Angle, channel and beam
  • Hollow section (RHS, SHS, CHS)
  • Pipe and tube
  • Billet and semi-formed stock

What a specification can reference

  • A standard from the EN, ASTM, JIS or GB systems
  • A mill-specific grade name
  • An equivalent grade, where one is acceptable
  • A dimensional tolerance the application allows
  • A customer or project specification

Applications

  • Structural steel fabrication
  • General engineering and machining
  • Infrastructure and civil works
  • Industrial plant and equipment
  • Marine and offshore fabrication
  • Manufacturing and processing lines

Markets an enquiry can cover

  • United Arab Emirates and wider GCC
  • Middle East
  • Indian subcontinent
  • East Africa
  • Southeast Asia
Before You Send

Four details that change the answer.

An enquiry missing these can be acknowledged, but not assessed.

  1. 01

    Tolerance, not just dimension

A thickness with no tolerance leaves the requirement open. Two mills can both satisfy 10 mm and answer differently.

  2. 02

    Port, not just country

Freight and documentation both change with the discharge port. “UAE” and “Jebel Ali” are different enquiries.

  3. 03

    Whether the grade is fixed

If an equivalent specification is acceptable, saying so widens what can be sourced. If it is not, saying so avoids a wasted exchange.

  4. 04

    Trial or running requirement

A single tonnage and a recurring monthly volume are sourced differently. Stating which changes the conversation.

How We Work

How a steel enquiry moves.

  1. 01

    Requirement

You send the product form, dimensions, specification, quantity, destination and intended application.

  2. 02

    Review

We check the enquiry falls inside what Apex handles, and establish what documentation the destination requires.

  3. 03

    Sourcing

Where a relevant supply possibility exists, it is identified and put to you with its commercial terms attached.

  4. 04

    Confirmation

Specification, quantity, documentation and terms are confirmed in writing. Nothing is treated as agreed until it is.

Common Questions

Questions about sourcing steel through Apex.

01

Does Apex hold steel in stock?

No. Apex holds no inventory. Every enquiry is reviewed on its own parameters and taken to supply options against those parameters, which is why specification detail carries more weight here than it would with a stockist.

02

Is there a minimum quantity?

No minimum is published, because viability depends on the form, the specification and the destination rather than on tonnage alone. Trial quantities and recurring monthly volumes are both reviewed.

03

Which specification systems can be referenced?

Quote the grade exactly as it appears on your drawing or purchase specification, and name the system it belongs to. What matters more than the system is whether that grade is fixed or an equivalent is acceptable, because that one line decides how wide the sourcing can go.

04

Can mill test certificates and inspection be arranged?

Documentation requirements are established during review rather than after it. Mill test certificates, certificates of origin and third-party inspection are confirmed in writing as part of the commercial terms.

05

Which commercial terms does Apex work to?

Terms are agreed per enquiry. State the Incoterms rule you work to and the discharge port, and the commercial response is framed on that basis rather than on an assumption that has to be corrected later.

06

Where does Apex operate from?

Apex Elevation Enterprise FZ-LLC is licensed and based in Ras Al Khaimah, United Arab Emirates, and reviews enquiries for delivery across the GCC and the wider markets it can source into.

Send the specification. We will tell you if it fits.

Include the product form, dimensions, specification, quantity, destination and intended application. If the requirement falls outside what Apex handles, we will say so.
